The birthday of Lal Bahadur Shastri, the second Prime Minister of India and Mahatma Gandhi, is celebrated on the same day on 2 October. Former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri was born on October 2, 1904 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

At that time his father had passed away. After this Shastri ji went to his maternal grandmother. Shastri ji took education from Nanihal. It is said that after getting the title of Shastri from Kashi Vidyapeeth, he removed Srivastava (caste word) from his name and named himself Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Shastri ji was rich in versatility. He defeated the enemy forces with his bravery in the odd situation.At that time the world used to call Lal Bahadur Shastri Iron Man. Lal Bahadur Shastri died on January 11, 1966. After the death of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, he served the country for 18 months as the Prime Minister.
